Robert J. Gerberg: Job Seekers at $50,000+ Need Active as Well as Passive Approaches

New York, NY — "Every job seeker answers ads and sends resumes to recruiters. They'd be foolish not to. But they need to realize, these are passive approaches where the employer takes all the initiative and they just ‘throw their hat in the ring’ along with hundreds of other candidates. So it's always highly competitive." Robert J. Gerberg, best selling author, makes this point in his latest book, The Professional Job Changing System. "Networking is one example of the active approaches, and this book instructs people how to do that most productively. But it's only one of three major methods. Few job seekers appreciate the potential of contacting employers directly. It's a form of research and timing is critical. Before a job is published, employers first recognize the need internally and try to fill it various ways. If a good letter or resume reaches them at that time, they are likely to respond positively. But only a small percentage of them will see such a need developing at the moment you make contact. So you've got to make contact in large numbers to identify the few who are great prospects right now."
