Advanced Career Technologies Survey: Clear Goals Statement Needed in Job Search, But Only 30% Have It
New York, NY "Our periodic surveys of the 10,000 job seekers at $50,000+ who contact us each month, confirms that only about 30% of them make clear on their resumes the level and function in which they expect to contribute," says Robert J. Gerberg, best selling author, in his latest book, The Professional Job Changing System. "The obvious problem is that most employers and recruiters who receive the resumes will not take the time to figure out where someone might fit, so the resume is eliminated."
"This book, with instructions and examples, directs people on how to set and communicate clear goals. This also helps them avoid other mistakes. Writing a resume that does not have consistent strong selling points throughout is an example. With a clear goal statement, you see, it is easy to review your resume to make sure everything in it supports your claim to that goal. Without it, you can start wandering. It is common to see resumes where a sales person will put too much emphasis on operations experience."
"Some resumes will highlight titles that have little or no relation to the person's goals. This gives a first impression that they are trying to win a position for which they have little direct experience, when that is not the case. Whether it is key words, achievements, titles or functions, they all need to be consistent. Any document is more compelling when it has tight focus on one point, and a resume is no exception."
"Having clear goals is just the starting point for this book. It teaches people with precise instruction and plenty of examples how to prepare in other ways as well, including knowing their industry options and how they will handle diplomatically any concerns or objections they can anticipate. Beyond preparation, the book, available hardcover in bookstores nationwide, makes it easy for people to start getting exposure to many more opportunities, in both the published and unpublished markets, even if they have limited time. It also shares our proven principles for networking, interviewing, identifying emerging jobs, keeping your motivation and energy up, and much more."
