Advanced Career Technologies Survey: 77% of Professionals Think About Changing Jobs, Few Do

New York, NY "In one of our recent surveys of the 10,000 people earning more than $50,000+ who contact us each month, we learned that 77% of them had thought about finding a new job, but most didn't have the confidence that they could make a good move and never entered the job market. The figures were roughly the same for men and women." Robert J. Gerberg, best selling author, makes this point in his latest book, The Professional Job Changing System. "When it comes to jobs and careers, most people play it safe and underestimate themselves, so they remain in jobs that offer little future."

"This book educates people about themselves and the job market. It shows them step by step what they need to do prepare thoroughly, from setting goals, to choosing industries, to figuring out how they'll handle any liabilities, to writing a resume that sets them apart, to forming an action plan. Beyond preparation, the book, which is available hardcover in bookstores nationwide, also teaches people about the 8 sectors of the job market, and how they can uncover far more opportunities, not just those that are published, but also those that are unpublished."

"It also gives people advice based on thousands of job searches, about how they can interview more effectively, with stories, ways to build chemistry, a "communication strategy" for dealing with employer concerns and even helping to shape a job so it's a better fit for them. Having all of this information and guidance is a tremendous confidence booster, and I know that for those who read the book, the percentage who stay in unrewarding jobs will be far lower than 77%."

"When people do finally decide to make a move, it is interesting that 22% of them want to "try something else." Career changes have become more common in the past five years especially, as industries grow and recede, and the types of talents in demand shift more rapidly. More people are becoming comfortable with the idea that they will have several careers over their lifetime."
