Advanced Career Technologies Survey: 21% of Men, 39% of Women, Seek Higher Income in Job Change
New York, NY "In our most recent survey of why employed people at $50,000+ think about changing jobs, there were many areas where the percentages for men and women did not vary that much, but in some areas there was a significant difference. One of those was feeling blocked and needing higher income, where only 21% of men, but 39% of women, listed this as a major factor." These and other statistics are included in best selling author Robert J. Gerberg's latest book, The Professional Job Changing System.
"Another area where the percentages diverge is the sense of being in the wrong industry. Only 4% of women felt that way, vs. 15% of men, perhaps because they dominate in many traditional slow-growth industries. There are many ways in which they are similar, as you'd expect. Figures are about even for wanting to try something else (22%), feeling burned out (8-9%), not enough enjoyment (15-17%) and not getting along with the boss (3%)."
"This book makes people aware of these and other interesting statistics, as part of its overall larger purpose, which is to give people the education, guidance and examples they need to succeed in a job search today. It starts with the preparation, where they learn how to set the right goals and industry choices, develop a resume that sells them more effectively, anticipate and neutralize any liabilities or employer concerns that might arise, identify transferable skills and personal strengths, and create a practical action plan."
"The book, which is available in hardcover at bookstores nationwide, then takes them beyond the preparation phase, to getting maximum exposure to all the opportunities right for them in the window of time they are searching. It teaches them a lot of things about answering ads and other parts of the published job market. It then tells them things most people don't know about networking, contacting employers directly, using events as signals of emerging jobs, and other essentials for getting exposure in the unpublished market, where 50% or more of the jobs are for people over $50,000. I wouldn't want a close relative to be in the market today without this knowledge and precise instruction."
