Advanced Career Technologies Survey: 91% of Failed Job Seekers Say They Needed a Better Resume

New York, NY "We surveyed 2500 people in the market for over a year, seeking jobs at $50,000+. 91% of the said they needed a better resume. Best selling author Robert J. Gerberg said survey details are in his latest book, The Professional Job Changing System, available hardcover in bookstores nationwide. "Over the years this has been a major problem for people, but it won't be a problem for those who follow the detailed guidelines and proven principles in this book."

"The first section teaches them how to prepare having clear goals, knowing industry options, figuring out ways to neutralize liabilities, knowing transferable skills so crucial to switching industries and setting up a realistic action plan. None of that helps, though, if their resume is not superior. The most common flaw is revealing liabilities, things like a peaked career, too many job changes, one-company experience, age or unrelated titles."

"Another common mistake is not making clear the type of position you want. With 30 million resumes in circulation, you cannot expect the reader to spend time trying to figure that out. Also, you have at most 20 seconds to show how you would contribute, and that has to be done in a memorable way that the reader can easily understand."

"A lot of resumes just don't have much graphic appeal, reflecting poorly on the job seeker. Today a resume also has to go the extra step. Going beyond achievements, you need to identify the skills you used, so employers easily understand how you contribute."

"People need to ask themselves, 'Is my resume dynamic, fast moving and a strong selling document?' In today's market, every line must inspire the reader. Being boring doesn't work! Action-oriented stories go a long way toward making a resume memorable. By the way, this book goes way beyond just resumes and preparation. It's everything a job seeker needs to know and do to uncover far more opportunities in all 8 segments of the job market - published and unpublished and then to convert more of those interviews to offers by applying proven principles for interviewing.
