Advanced Career Technologies Survey: 29% of Stalled Job Searches Hurt By Past Frequent Job Changes
New York, NY "It's long been known that a record of frequent job changes can be a problem for job seekers, and our survey confirms that. Out of 2500 people at $50,000+ who'd been job searching over a year, 29% cited this as a key problem." Best selling author Robert J. Gerberg cites this troubling statistic from the survey in his latest book, The Professional Job Changing System, available hardcover in bookstores nationwide.
"It's just plain common sense, you've got to solve this before you start to search, and in the first part of the book, as part of preparation, people learn how to neutralize any liability. There are many things you can do on a resume, for example. Many forget to note they were recruited. Others can use an introductory line to a series of positions grouped together, explaining they were a 'highly sought after producer.' Some can truthfully be positioned as consulting or project-based assignments. And in interviews, they can use a 4-step process to make the point that these changes are precisely why they are looking for permanence as a primary characteristic of their next job, turning a potential liability to a positive."
"Anticipating liabilities at the start is essential, which is why handling them is part of the first section of the book, preparing thoroughly. It also instructs people on how to create a more effective resume, set clear goals, identify all industry options and more. The 2nd section shows people how to get considered for many more openings. In the published market they learn how to identify and get considered for more openings from ads, employer sites and recruiters, among other things."
"In the unpublished market, they learn specific steps they need to take to network with more people for more contacts, generate interest from employers who have not advertised, and tap into desirable emerging jobs by paying close attention to certain types of business news. The section on interviewing is easy to apply and can show quick results. People will also find the section on personal issues helpful for building confidence — things like building a will to succeed, and keeping up your momentum."
