Advanced Career Technologies Study: Most Job Seekers at $50,000+ See Only 3% of Opportunities

New York, NY — "Would you believe 87% of professional-level people leave 97% of their market untouched," asks Robert J. Gerberg, best selling author whose latest book is The Professional Job Changing System. "It's a tragedy," he continued, "So many talented people do so little. They fail to contact decision makers at growth firms. They don't seek out leads to emerging jobs. Their networking is far too limited and not directed. They go to few recruiters and uncover only a small percentage of published openings suitable for them. Most aren't even aware of Personal Marketing Websites."

"Few understand the job market or the large number of contacts necessary, even for those with a lot of achievements. A lot of it can be traced to their methods, the same as those used in the 70s and 80s, decades ago. There is so much they don't know how to do. Many can't find the time even if they did know. The whole process for most is back in the dark ages."

"They key is to use available technology to leverage your time and multiply your ability to find and contact a lot of good, carefully targeted prospects. In the market of published openings, whether in newspapers, on job boards, on employer sites or elsewhere, most people need to answer 10 times the number of ads and postings they think is adequate. And they've got to go to hundreds of the right recruiters, not just a dozen. One recruiter will seldom have an opening right for you at the moment you contact them."

"But ads, networking and recruiters are passive methods, and you'll find a lot of competition. You leave out 50% to 75% of your market, depending on your income, if you ignore the unpublished openings. As you go up the income scale, that percentage increases. And here you need to be creative, aggressive, and pick your targets carefully. But that requires Internet research most people don't know how to do. The book, which people can get now in hard cover at bookstores nationwide, tells them not only what they need to do, but how to do it."
